Watch the live tasting video on our Youtube channel here.

On December 10th, Barton 1792 Distillery introduced its first ultra-premium brand: their range of Thomas S. Moore Kentucky Straight Bourbon whiskeys, finished in select casks from around the world. The first three expressions are now available in limited release. They are a Port Finish, a Chardonnay Finish, and a Cabernet Sauvignon Finish.

Thomas S. Moore built the distillery, known today as Barton 1792 Distillery, in 1889. Moore was an early pioneer in Bardstown. Leading up to Prohibition, he developed a constantly evolving whiskey empire. The powerhouse distillery filled hundreds of barrels of whiskey a day. Business thrived until the 18th Amendment forced them to cease production in 1920. These new namesake bourbons intend to honor Thomas S. Moore as an innovative bourbon pioneer.

Barton 1792 Distillery is defining a new category of “extended cask finished” bourbon whiskeys in their new collection. Their signature high rye recipe bourbon is aged for many years in new charred oak barrels before moving to casks that previously matured various wines or spirits from around the world, such as Cognac, Cabernet, Port, etc. The bourbon is then aged an additional one to three years. The results are elegant whiskeys, each with a distinct flavor profile, reflecting the nuances of both the bourbon and the finishing cask. Distillery details for each whiskey are as follows:

Thomas S. Moore Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Finished in Port Casks - described as having a soft sweet taste, with subtle hints of vanilla and baking spices. 98.9 proof.

Thomas S. Moore Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Finished in Chardonnay Casks - rich taste, with notes of citrus, tropical fruit and buttery oak. This whiskey is 97.9 proof.

Thomas S. Moore Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Finished in Cabernet Sauvignon Casks - a bold taste, with notes of dark fruit, caramel and vanilla. This whiskey is 95.3 proof.
The tall, sophisticated bottles feature imagery that pays homage to the Legacy of Thomas S. Moore. Each label displays the image of a racehorse standing tall, honoring one of Moore’s earliest whiskey brands, Belle of Nelson, named for the thoroughbred who won the Kentucky Oaks in 1878.
Suggested retail for each expression is $69.99
